I used to work with somebody who literally had six screens. They were mounted vertically in a 2×3 arrangement. The company had to have a frame specially made to hold his monitors, it was like scaffolding.
IIRC he was a regular contractor who they wanted to go permanent. I’d guess that he didn’t really want to and said “yeah so I’ll do it if you… give me a six screen setup, yeah, and not horizontal, vertical“. Don’t call the bluff of people with silly quantities of money.
Stuff I’m working on: screen right in front of me. Chat sessions, activity monitor, calendar, contacts, all that other stuff: screen off to the side. Hardware has gotten very nearly disposable.

I can run with 6 separate screens. It’s because of the workstation GPU that I use.

hardware here is now redundant .. have evolved to post-it notes and vacuum tubes linking the memory holes in the ministry of truth
