Better if you could choose the default action to be auto-rotate or maintain orientation. I’d go with maintain, as that is only rarely my preference, and would then only need to rarely pay attention, and press a button.

I use an app called rotation control.

Andy Dillon: Er, you can. Pull down the right-hand pull-down menu. In new Android versions (I’m not sure if it appeared in 4.2.2 or 5.0.0), then also tap on the ‘Settings’ icon. Then, tap on ‘Auto-rotate’.

Rotation Control lets me enable rotation for apps like Youtube, and lock to specific rotations for others.
