John Hardy not a Turnbull fan So, a question not meant to troll/ignite fanboi bullshit. Do you use Apple gear? How do you listen to music (earphones?), and how does your gear interact with other stuff (projectors, Wintel laptops/desktops, peripherals)?
Peter Strempel I’m not a big user of Apple stuff. Apart from a few iPads, iPods and my daughter’s laptop I have a bunch of Android phones, wintel and linux laptops etc. I only pay attention because every year Apple does another outrage with its mutually incompatible ports and connectors. I imagine that they are going someplace with all this but right now it’s a complete mess.
Peter Strempel I’m no fanboy, but I’m a longtime user if Apple stuff (besides Android, Linux) and I can tell you that from my perspective these changes suck. It looks like back to the 90s where I had to carry a bunch of adapters when going on a business trip. And don’t forget one or your talk at a conference or workshop happens without your interactive demo, unless someone else can provide you with one.
And, additionally, the missing Kensington lock (because: let’s shave one more millimeter for design’s sake) makes the newer MacBooks easier to steal.
All my professional life I have relied on computers to solve my challenges. In the early 90s it was Mac for desktop publishing. Then Linux for Apache, Wintel for Citrix desktop, and finally just Windows for my roving consultant’s desktop.
Now they all want me to cut off a leg and pluck out an eye to use them for anything at all. Whatever happened to solving my fucking problems.
Needs another adapter.

This for the iPhone. Stupid shits for not standardizing on Type C on mobile too.

…and by problems I think Apple means further gating the community of paying customers….er…users. Control…Who is number one? You are number six.

…and by number six they mean the number of connectors you need now.
