VS Code is not really Visual Studio but a rewrite in JavaScript written on top of the Electron framework. It’s based on github’s Atom editor but uses a different editor component. For web development it’s most like Sublime edit. I think it’s excellent and it’s available everywhere for free.
Is Visual Studio actually good these days?

Okay, cool. I only know it from the very earliest days, back in the 90s, I think, & didn’t like it much.
