I took a computer class in my senior year in high school–1970. We had to learn how to punch cards to get the computer to print something out.

Lee Grupsmith-Pedersen they were also still being used in education in 1980 which was kind of inexplicable given that microcomputers like the Apple 2 were already common

The card reader at my university (before I got there officially) accepted control cards to govern it’s behaviour via the card feed. Such as dumping odd-numbered cards in output bin 1 and even-numbered cards in output bin 2…

I wonder what the information density is? I supposed you could compute it in bits per kilogram, or in bits per cubic meter.
