If advertising really was purely informational then there would be a clear, declarative, non-Turing complete way to run them which fulfilled all their marketing requirements and even pass back user approved statistics. I.e. like old fashioned banner ads but with all the modern razzle dazzle. Instead advertising is literally malware and ad-blocking is no longer merely justified but essential.
Why would ads possibly need to execute code??
