So it was a simulated phone call? If the upcoming product worked as described, and demonstrated, that seems to be not misleading in any material way, though somewhat in the realm of misleading. To say that investors were misled is kind of stretchy.
Oz_L_G “Federal law permits recording telephone calls and in-person conversations with the consent of at least one of the parties. See 18 U.S.C. 2511(2)(d). This is called a “one-party consent” law. Under a one-party consent law, you can record a phone call or conversation so long as you are a party to the conversation. Furthermore, if you are not a party to the conversation, a “one-party consent” law will allow you to record the conversation or phone call so long as your source consents and has full knowledge that the communication will be recorded.” from http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/recording-phone-calls-and-conversations
Oz_L_G I didn’t know that. I’m wondering how those two party consent laws work when the callers are in different states. I wonder if it matters which state the caller is in or the non-consenting party. Or if the federal law simply controls.
Apparently it’s been tracked down to Hong’s Gourmet a Chinese restaurant 20 mins from the Googleplex. This is based on some detective work done on Twitter based on this photo published by
Where does it say that?

Oz_L_G can you cite the law saying it is illegal to record phone calls without the consent of both parties? I’ve seen conflicting opinions about that.

Probably definitely partially staged. No reason to believe otherwise because Google has form when it comes to staged demos.
