These chests of drawers really are unsafe.

The so-called safety mechanism is a wire you’re supposed to attach from the back of the unit to the wall behind to prevent it from falling over. This is needed because these units is intrinsically unbalanced with too high a centre of gravity and too small a base. Without the safety wire, they are an accident just waiting to happen.

What percent of purchasers have actually attached this wire? I’m willing to bet not all that many.

Apple relies heavily on growth in the Chinese market to bolster its bottom line. Apple is learning, as every other Western corporation learns eventually, that there’s no free lunch in China. Eventually you are going to be competing with some princeling’s son-in-law.

There’s not much that can be said about Malcolm Turnbull as prime minister. Unfortunately that still makes him a massive improvement over his predecessor who was a genuine threat to the stability of this country.
