  1. Seems like most of the difference is the voice recognition accuracy. Obviously Google has a much bigger training data set for that, having spent a few years collecting samples. (I’ve helped with IBM projects to improve Watson’s accuracy in that area.)

  2. I’m not so sure google has a bigger training data set in the US. Siri and Dictation’ve been going for longer than android’s variants of same, and the market share is about even (IOW, Apple has spent more years collecting data).

    The big issue in the latter half of the video seems to be that there are two people with very similar names in the one phone and it consistently picks the wrong one. Even when they’re testing it by inputting the Jakub W name into the other phone, they didn’t input the spoiler name as well, which skews the result.

    The issue in the first half is much more clear cut — it recognizes the text just fine, but unless you specify Toronto, it picks Tennessee. Which would be fine if you were in Tennessee. It apparently is worse at picking Option One.
